Blogger donkament.

Played in the Blogger Race for the Bracelets tournament last night on Fulltilt. Had a lot of fun, always do playing with my fellow Bloggers. I did ok, came in 30 out of 54 players. At one time I was at top the leader board. I started out playing great, but then became weak tight. I hate playing that way! Three times I opened for the pot and when someone came over the top of me I folded. That is just weak poker period. Then when I decided to make my stand I ran into A-K twice, both times I was insta-called and insta-dominated. One hand early in the tournament I got a really lucky flop. Also thought I was able to extract maximum value for the hand. I had pocket Kings in early position. I brought it in for my standard bring in of the pot. (I am lazy so I like to click the bet pot button on Fulltilt.) Took the flop heads up. The flop came gin for me a deuce, and two Kings with 2 diamonds on the boards. I checked and my opponent bet the pot. I was seeing stars in my eyes. Turn was a blank and I made a weak lead at the pot for the 100T. He raised me 300T and I smooth called. River was a perfect 7 of diamonds. I bet the minimum of 100T and he raised me 400T. I paused for effect and re-raised him 700T, careful to leave him enough chips behind that he could call me. He called and I dragged down a nice pot. My opponent had A-J of diamonds. What a bad flop for him and great one for me. It’s not often you flop quads and get paid off on them. I have a few more interesting hands from the tournament that I will write about during this week. Will be playing in more of these Blogger tournament in the next few weeks. That’s it for today. Good luck at the tables. Tony

Chip Tournaments.

I have been doing great in the $26 tournament chip satellites on Fulltilt this week. In the last 2 days I have won 3 chips in 4 tries. In case you are unfamiler with them this post will give you the details. My favorite in the $6.60 18 man 2 table SNG type. Start with 1500 chips 10 minute blinds.(Non-turbo) Top 4 places get a $26 chip, which is good for any of Fulltilt's 24+2 tournaments. 5th place gets $4, I really hate finishing in 5th! My strategy is to play real tight until 4 or 5 people get knocked out. Then to make some moves to steal some pots. When we get down to like 8 or 9 I tighten up once more. At this point there always seams to be a bully who thinks he can run the table over. Once close to the bubble, I become that bully. It's amazing how this scenerio seams to play out every time I play in these events. Even with totally different players every time. It really is true that SNGs are pretty much routine. I will keep playing in these being they are so profitable. Good Luck at the tables. Tony.

P.S. - Bloggers don't forget about Al's Blogger Race for the Braclets tournament on Fulltilt tonight at 7pm.

Fulltilt HORSE

Played a few hours of $1-2 HORSE on Fulltilt Poker today. Got beat up pretty badly. Couldn't do anything right. RAZZ was especially brutal to me today. Ran into a wheel 3 times today! Had a 6 once and a perfect 7 twice. Also HI/LO stud was tough for me also. Got scooped over and over again. Weird thing is Limit HE saved me from really losing my shirt. Stud and Omaha Hi/Lo was both neutral for me. Going to keep playing HORSE to get warmed up for the WSOP. Need to play in more of the $55 HORSE tournaments on Fulltilt. There won't be a Taj report this weekend after all. We have decided to save up our live play for next weekend. Good luck at the tables. Tony

An odd No Limit Hand.

Here is an odd hand to report about. Last night I am playing in a .25-.50 No Limit Donkfest on Fulltilt. Steaming a little being I have been felted twice, with the best hand pre-flop both times. I am under the gun and find 2 red aces, jackpot. This table was very aggressive all night. The squeeze play after a few limpers was like automatic. Anyway 2 people limp after me and then the button does also. The small blind calls and the big blind checks. So much for my limp re-raise trap that I set up perfectly. Flop comes pretty harmless, 2-3-10 rainbox. Being there are 6 of us in the pot I want to reduce the field to increase my chances. I bet the pot, 2 people fold and the button min-raises me. Smells like he has a ten but I just call to trap him further. On the turn we are heads up and a very bad 10 comes. I check and he checks behind me. At this point I am thinking he is trapping me with his 3 tens. The river comes with a blank, think a 7. I check and he bets half the pot. I call thinking I played this hand so badly I deserve to loss. He turns over 2 black aces and we split the pot. WTF, how can he just call pre-flop when there are already 3 people in the pot? My question is this, who played this hand worse me or him? Please leave me a comment about the play of this hand. May do a trip report this weekend, if I can get some live poker in. Good Luck at the tables. Tony

WSOP

The WSOP is only 6 weeks away for me. My wife and I are going to the 2nd week of it. I am playing in the $2500 HORSE event and the $2000 HI/LO Stud. She is playing in the Ladies $1000 No Limit. Reading about the WPT championship, going on now at the Bellegio, has really lite a fire under my butt! It has got me really excited to compete with the best and worst players in the world. (When I say worst I am talking about all the mines you have to dodge when playing in the WSOP.) Last year's RAZZ tournament was full of dangerous players who didn't have a clue. Don't get me wrong there were some great RAZZ specialists there also. I can't wait to go!! Good Luck at the tables. Tony

Live Poker.

Haven't had time to play any live poker in over a week and a half. Miss playing at the Borgata. Will try to play there soon. I have been playing a lot on Fulltilt, $1-2 HORSE and .25-.50 No limit. The HORSE games have been up and down. Some days can't seam to win a hand at Stud or RAZZ. Other days can't lose a hand at RAZZ, can't figure it out. As for the No Limit games, they have been awesome. Think it's time to move up to the next level. Once the bankroll gets a little bigger, I will take a shot moving up. I am sure the players have to be better then at .25-.50, I shall see. Been doing well playing SNGs lately. The swings for me have been wild at SNGs. First I don't cash in 10 in a row, then I win 4 in a row. Very streaky is how I run in them. I know this post isn't very exciting so I will end it here. Hopefully I will have a big MTT win to report this week. Good luck at the tables. Tony

Free WSOP Seat.

I played a round 1 freeroll on Fulltilt last night. It's like my 10th try to win a seat to round 2. Finally victory! I played a 630 person winner take all tournament and I took it down! Eventhough it's a freeroll winning these tournaments is like walking through a mine field blindfolded. Trouble is lurking around every corner. Even now I don't know what I did right. Once we got to the final table I just tried to maintain my chips, was 3rd at that point. Some maniac, who was chip leader for most of it, did all the dirty work by knocking out 6 of 7 players. Once we got heads up he had a 4-1 chip lead on me. I knew he was getting tired and he wanted to end it fast. So I gambled with him. We got it all in when he had K-8 sooted to my A-Q off. I turned a broadway straight to take it down. Saturday is round 2, wish me luck. Good Luck at the tables. Tony

Fultilt HORSE Tournament.

Finally a nice cash. Played in the $55 6:15pm HORSE tournament on Full last night. Had a great time. I was all excited, Karina Jett was at my table. Not only because she's attractive, LOL. On Fulltilt if you knock a "Red" pro out you get your buyin back. I almost knocked her out but someone else did the honors. Plus it's good practice for the WSOP HORSE tournament I plan on playing in June. Things went well for me last night, finished in 3rd. It was a small tournament, so I only won $212.50. Still a cash is a cash. When we got down to 3 handed I was at a huge chip disadvantage. So I was more then happy with 3rd. I plan on playing a HORSE tournament everyday until June for practice. Maybe tomorrow I will BLOG about some interesting hands from the tournament. Good luck at the tables. Tony

Taj Cash Game.

Played $10-20 live at the Taj this weekend. Crushed the game, made $500 in 2 hours of play. Sick thing is I sat down for 15 minutes, before my tournament started, and won $385! The play at the Taj is getting worse and worse every time I go there. One hand was really great for me, as you shall see. I get dealt A-K of spades in late position. 3 people limp and I raise it up. Big blind 3 bets the pot. 2 limpers fold and we take a flop 3 handed. Before I reveal the flop, let me tell you I almost jumped out of my seat. Q-J-10 with the J and 10 being spades!!! I would say a good flop for me! It gets better. Someone leads out before me. I raise and the person in between us smooth calls. The original raise 3 bets it, I cap! Turn brings a 7 of spades, actually a bad card for me being I already had the nuts. I still have the nuts but my action is dead. I bet and they both call. River is a blank. I bet and they both call. First player flopped 3 jacks, other player mucked without showing. What a monster pot that was! Love playing with the donks at the Taj. Good Luck at the tables. Tony

Taj Report

Played at the Taj Yesterday. Nothing exciting to report from the tournament. Felt I played well but I couldn't win a coin flip in an important situation. Went all in from late position with pocket 8s for 3800T. After 2 limpers were in. Blind were at 200-400 with a 50 ante. A terrible player called me for half his chips in the big blind. A-Qo, what a bad play that he didn't need to make. Of well A-Q has been a bad hand for me for some time. I lose with it and it cracks my pairs over and over again. The tournament itself was great. Within 20 minutes they broke 2 tables down. People were getting knocked out on total donkey plays. If I didn't know better I would have thought I was playing a MTT on Party Poker! Example of bad play, with the blinds at 25-50 a guy, with a party hat on, makes it 1000 to go! He gets called by another donkey. They check it down to the river. What do they have you ask? Hmm first donkey has A-8 sooted, for a pair of eights. 2nd donkey has Q-Ko, he never even tries to steal the pot. Play was horrible, anyway you look at it. This is the way it goes in these $100 tournaments these days. I will play this one again, good value playing at the Taj these days. I have a lot to post about the live games. Will do it later today. Good luck at the tables. Tony

I play bad.

I play bad, very bad. I starting playing SNGs yesterday all confident that I was to win them all easily. Let me tell you over confidence is a sure path to losing in Poker. Was playing a 9 man NL SNG on FullTilt. Things were going well, had a great table image. I was able to steal the blinds at least once every orbit. We were down to 5 people, my stack was in the middle of the pack. I raised a few times in a row, with decent by not great cards, and I took down the blinds. Then on the button I raise to 3 times the big blind with K-J of spades. The Big blind called. Flop comes down 10-3-2 off suite. He checks and I make a continuation bet of half the pot. He calls, a light bulb should have gone off in my head. Hmm no draws out there and he called me, what does that mean? Turn brings a king and he checks to me. I think my kings with a J kicker are good. I bet the pot and he calls me. At this point I have 1000 chips left, enough that I could still recover being the blinds are 100-200. Also had great image so I didn’t want to bust out here. River is a blank and he insta-pushes. I think for like 1 second and call off my whole stack. He of course has K-10 and knocks me out of the tournament. What a donkey I am. I hate getting knocked out of a tournament/SNG by calling off all my chips. Usually when I get knocked out I am the aggressor and just get unlucky or run into a big hand. I play so bad sometimes! Need to improve of my focus and concentration while playing online. The fact that I was 4 tabling, at this time, probably had a lot to do with it. Also riding an exercise bike, watching TV, and reading an email at the same time. Multitasking can be bad. Good luck at the tables. Tony

P.S. - Big Shoutout to Cousin Ant! Kick some ass at the Taj this weekend!

FullTilt SNGs

Had a good night playing SNGs. Played 2 of them and won them both. I run funny in SNGs. Before yesterday I didn't cash in 11 straight. Now I have taken first in 3 of the last 4 I've played. Had an especially tough one tonight. Got heads up and it lasted for 30 minutes! Kept going back and forth until my adversary got hit with a cooler, allowing me to take it down. Been playing some $1-2 HORSE on FullTilt lately. Let me tell you the game is full of Donkeys! I make around 4 BB an hour playing it. More importantly I get my rakeback and fulltilt points. Also allows me to earn enough points to maintain my ironman status. There is a lot of good things going on at FullTilt these days. I will win one of these Race for the Braclets tournaments soon! Did I tell you I can't wait for the WSOP this year. I want my shot at a braclet. Good luck at the tables. Tony

Happy Easter

Happy easter everyone. Played some low limit no limit this morning on Fulltilt. It was as fishy as usual. Starting to remind me of the Party Poker days. Met MrsCantHang today, by chance, at a table. She seams really nice, just like Al. I can't wait for the WSOP this year! I can feel that braclet chance coming up. I know I am rambling tonight, had a few beers and shots of brandy. That's it for tonight for me. Good luck at the tables. Tony

Playing Live No Limit HE

I can't play live no limit anymore. I love to play $1-2 and $2-5 at the Borgata in AC, but I can't do it. The problem is I feel the need to play super tight, to play properly. I don't have the patience to wait hours for a hand anymore. Online poker has spoiled me. I would rather multi-table 3 .25-.50 no limit games on Fulltilt then play 1 live game at my favorite casino. Even at the Borgat with competent dealers and a shuffle machine, you just don't get the hands per hour you see online. Now I still love to play live $10-20 and $20-40 LHE in AC. Read my last post about playing at the Borgata or the Taj.

I want to give a big shootout to Dr. Pauly for reading my BLOG and leaving me a comment. His BLOG is the reason I got started doing this in the first place. His stories keep me entertained on a daily basis. We are only on this earth for a short time and we had better enjoy the time we are given. His writing and crazy stories really inspire me to do that!

Good Luck at the tables. Tony

Borgata or the Taj Mahal

To play at the Borgata or the Taj, that is the question? It used to be that the premier poker room in AC was at the Taj Mahal. Sure the Trop had a room but it just wasn’t the same. These days there is a new king in town, it’s the Borgata Poker Room. It’s new, spacious, and clean! When you order a beer they will actually give you a bottle! What a new concept, cough Vegas baby. Most of the limit games have moved over to the Borgata. On a recent Saturday they had 6-$10-20, 3-$20-40, and 3-$40-80 games going. I love playing at the Borgata but the sharks have followed the action. The games at the Taj are much softer. At the Taj you have many pit players coming over with black chips to give poker a try. Rarely do you see that at the Borgata. Also your food comps go so much further at the Borgata. There are so many more nice places to eat. They also have a food court right downstairs from the poker room. (The Taj has the crappy poker snack bar upstairs.) As for the Borgata babes, no other casino can compare. I think the measure there chests when hiring them. OK 34C or bigger you have a job . IMHO the Borgata is the place to play for an all around great time. If you only are going to play to make money the Taj wins hands down. Borgata 6-Sharks, 2-donkeys, 2-Average players in every game. Taj 2-Sharks, 8-donkeys,2-Average players. Good Luck at the tables. Tony

Token Sit-N-Go.

Played a 2 table Token SNG on Fulltilt last night. It costs $6.60 to play and they pay 5 spots, with 4 tokens given away. The tokens are worth $26, so it's worth playing in these for sure. I have been winning a token almost 50% of the time, so the players in these are real weak :-). Here is the hand that caused me to bubble last night, don't worry it's not a bad beat.(Maybe just a bad play, you decide.) I am the short stack with 1790T after posting my small blind. Not super short 2 other people have around 2200T. Everyone folds to the Bid stack on the button who limps. I have K-10 and push all-in, hoping to pick up the dead money in the pot. Big Blind folds and the button insta-calls. She has K-Q and was setting a trap for me? I don't see why she didn't raise herself? Did she really know her hand dominated mine? It's an odd play IMHO. She knocked me out and was bragging to the table about "taking one for the team". I guess she called being I couldn't hurt her stack that badly. I could see her pushing to steal the blinds in that situation, not just calling what could have been just a coin flip. Anyone have an opinion about this hand? Please comment about it.

By the way I want to give a thank you shoutout to Waffles for mentioning my BLOG in a post. He has helped generate some traffic to this BLOG and I appreciate it. Check out his BLOG you won't be sorry. Good Luck at the tables. Tony
