Vegas

Just 3 weeks left until the WSOP for us! I can't wait to get out of here and play in the $2500 RAZZ event. Nothing much going on the Online Poker front, just running bad in Sit-N-Gos this week. Running good in Hi/Lo Stud so that offsets my SNG loses. Vegas Baby! Tony

Again yesterday I did great in mixed MTTs. Played in 4 and cashed in 3 of them, example above. No Limit laughed in my face as usual. I get knocked out, close to the money, in a 4000 man MTT when I flop a set of tens only to be against a set of Aces! That skill argument in No Limit MTTs is getting harder and harder to prove. There is just so much bad play in No Limit MTTs these days. Beware of the donks today. Happy Donkday. Tony

Vegas Baby!

Less than a month remains until we go to the WSOP! At the very least I am playing in the $2500 RAZZ event. As for my wife, we will try to satellite her into the event. RAZZ is both of our best game so it's +EV for her to play too :-). I can't wait to go this year, as usual. Expect to read a lot about it in the coming weeks. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

Limit vs No Limit

This post is about Limit vs. No Limit games. I am getting convinced that the easy money to be made is at Limit Poker these days. It seems to me that players are getting better at No Limit, especially in MTTs and luckier in Cash games. What I mean is they are shoving or calling shoves with close to the right odds in the Cash games these days. As for MTTs they are shoving or calling shoves early in the tournament to get nice stacks so they have full chip utility later on in the tournament. Don’t know if this is intentional or they are just getting lucky to stumble onto this concept. As for Limit MTTs people just don’t play all the games properly. Razz, Hi/Lo Stud, and Omaha Hi/Lo are just full of bad players making horrible calls time and time again. Lately I have had a ton of success in Omaha Hi/Lo MTTs, especially when we have gotten short-handed. All the hand reading from No Limit MTTs is coming in handy when short in Omaha Hi/Lo. I know it sounds crazy but No Limit has improved my Limit MTT skills. All Poker skills carry over to all the games somewhat especially hand reading skills for sure. My Tournament Leader Board quest is alive and well now after this week’s wins in 2 Omaha Hi/Lo MTTs I took down. I even have a shot at a monthly TLB cash on Stars, think have to finish in the top 100 to cash. I am currently in around 9000th place but we are all bunched up, point wise. If I can final table a few more MTTs this weekend I will be right in the race. I will post my progress, if I make any this weekend. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

Poker Stars SCOOP Events

I cashed in another SCOOP Event last night. Pot Limit Hi/Lo Omaha the low version. So I played in 4 SCOOP events and cashed in 2. My wife played in 6 and cashed in 4. Neither one of us had a large cash and we actually lost money being she played the medium level RAZZ and didn’t cash. Tonight I may be playing in the No Limit Hi/Lo Turbo Omaha event, if I get home in time for it. Will be playing in the RAZZ mini-FTOPS event at nine on Full Tilt, know I will make it for that one.(Being I am a RAZZ machine looking to go deep!) Come on by and rail me, need the support for sure. TGIF. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

Again I had the chip lead with 12 left and couldn't bring it home. People would not fold to my aggression at the final table. The suck outs were super bad. One of these days I will take a first in a RAZZ event again. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

Looks like RAZZ saved me from have a very bad weekend of MTTs. I felt like I left some money on the table in this one. When 3 handed I was closer to the leader than third but he lucked out in 3 big hands to knock me out. Now I am making some progress in my TLB race. Beware of the Donks today. They are out there and just licking their chops to put a bad beat on us! Happy Donkday. Tony

Milestone Post

Believe it or not this is my 1000 post! Who would of thought in 4 years time I would have gotten this far. It feels like my birthday all over again. Well it is this BLOGs birthday in a few weeks. Here's to another 1000 more posts. Thanks to all my readers over the years. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

$55 SCOOP Hi/Lo Omaha

The TLB chase on Poker Stars hasn’t been going well lately. I have been falling down in the standings do to running bad and losing the will to grind in MTTs for hours only to min-cash. Mtts are just so frustrating to me. Whenever I open up my game I get knocked out close to the money but if I play my TAG style rarely get to where the real money is. Let me step back this is all true in No Limit MTTs for me. HORSE, Razz, Stud, and Hi/Lo Stud MTTs are a different story for me. Maybe I should just focus on them and forget about the No Limit ones? Problem is in live casinos there are more and more No Limit and less Limit MTTs to choose from. BTW – Just 5 more weeks until our annual Vegas trip. The $2500 RAZZ event has my name all over it. I will have to play in a bunch of the Sunday Major RAZZ MTTs on Stars to practice. Tonight I am playing in the $55 SCOOP Hi/Lo Omaha-Tard event. See you all there. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

First SCOOP Event

I played in the opening SCOOP event on Poker Stars on Sunday. (It was the low version for $22 and the price tag was indicative of the bad play I would see!) We started with 10K chips and by 2 hours in I had chipped up nicely to 15K. Went card dead and was down to 12.5K when my nemesis hand on Sunday was dealt to me, pocket Aces. I got knocked out of 3 MTTs on Sunday with pocket Aces all in pre-flop. Forgot to say that the tournament was 6 max. On my death hand I raised 4x and 3 of us saw a flop of 9-3-2 with 2 spades. Both of my opponents were spew-tard idiots. The first donk shoved, 2nd donk called, and I guess I was the biggest donk being I called all in behind. First donk had a set of nines and the other donk had a set of twos. IGH in third place with my pocket Aces. Did I play this hand wrong? I will be at it again tonight playing in the 8:00pm SCOOP, maybe I will learn to play my pocket Aces better. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

FTOPS Razz Score

Playing RAZZ properly runs in our family, LOL. My wife cashed in 24th place last night for 1.1K. With 100 players left she had the 2nd biggest stack. Played very well but got coolered a few times once in the money. One major mistake she made was going after a Red Pro's bounty with a hand she normally wouldn't play. Than pairing up in 4th and still calling his bets. That extra $200 is enticing but when you are playing for a first price of 35K should ignore it. She was getting tired so it's an easy mistake to make. Now I will have to back her in the Sunday Razz major on Stars and the SCOOP Razz. Of well there are worse problems to have. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony
