Carbon Poker MTT

Almost took down a Low Limit MTT on Carbon yesterday.  Finished in 13th out of 119 entries.  Was one bad beat away from have a huge stack against very weak players.  It was a micro so you know how bad people are in these.  On final hand I shove with pocket Queens from the big blind.  Idiot, who had limped under the gun, snap calls me with K-10 off for half his stack.  Such a bad play but he wins the hand and IGH with a small cash.  I am getting back into playing MTTs, now that I have a decent roll built up.  Strict roll management is my motto.   Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables.  Tony

P.S. - Sorry for the typo in the title for 2 days!(Now corrected.)

Ebook Sneak Peek

I'm back to working hard on my Ebook, "Trouble in Atlantic City".  After a month's long writer's block the words are once again flowing from my keys.  I'm down to the home stretch right now.  Few more chapters and then I have to go back and proof/re-write.   Here are the first 2 raw unedited chapters for your enjoyment.   Thanks for Reading.  Tony

Welcome to Atlantic City, faded seaside resort city and east coast Vegas, want to be. Playground to every jet setter, high roller, high stakes Poker playing smuck, sleazebag and little old grey haired lady trying to get a piece of the gamblers dream to make that one big score. This is my territory; my name is Frank Vagola, Atlantic City P.I. I’m an ex-cop from the New York suburbs of Ridgefield Park New Jersey.  After putting in my 20 years of service to qualify for a full pension I retired from the police force.  Things were getting too corrupt for my liking anyway.   Also New Jersey Policies were starting to get to me.  Over time we public servants have lost respect from the public we are paid to serve.  Being there have been many scandals involving crooked cops I see why this is.   These days I spend my time in private practice as a private investigator, have an office above my garage in a small house I rent in Absecon New Jersey.  It’s not glamorous but it pays the bills and keeps me out/in trouble on a daily basis.  Mostly spend my times following cheating spouses around to motels alone the major highways of New Jersey.  Speaking of which I have lived in my whole life and intend on dying here too.
If you tell people, from other parts of the country, that you are from New Jersey they make some bad joke by stating, “Oh yea, which exit”?  This  joke is referring to the fact that Route 95, called the New Jersey Turnpike, is the main road most people associate with our great state.  The reason for this is that the Newark airport is located on the New Jersey Turnpike.  Also that area is full of many chemical plants that emit bad smells and tons of pollution into the atmosphere.  So when people are driving or getting driven out of the airport they pass through this area and it makes a bad first impression on them.  We all know how hard it is to change a bad first impression of anything.  This is why it’s so important for restaurants to look clean and well maintained on the outside.  If it looks bad from the outside people won’t even give it a chance. So New Jersey is like a rundown restaurant that may never get a chance to show off how good their food is being the bad first impression ruins it.  Anyway I have gone off on a tangent about my lovely state of New Jersey back to the story of how I almost got killed investigating another routine case of a couple getting intimidated by mobsters they owed money too.   So I thought it was going to be another easy routine case for me.  I didn’t know what I was getting myself involved with for this case until it was almost too late.

Carbon Poker

Been playing a lot on Carbon Poker these days.  Low Limit HE games are pretty soft.  The Double or Nothing Sit-N-Gos have gotten harder to beat these days.  Overall the games are decent and I play a few minutes every day.  My roll was up and down like a roller coaster when I first put money on the site last year.  I have learned strict roll management so haven't been in trouble for a long time.  I finally got a check from Cake Poker for the bulk of my roll there.  Took 6 months but got paid in full and it cleared without an issue.  Will keep at it and post how the roll does in the future. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables.  Tony

Women and the Main Event

What a shame too women both almost make the final table in the Main Event at the WSOP.  At least one of them making the final table would have been so good for Poker.  Oh well there is always next year.  I haven't been following the coverage much this year.  Maybe this will make it more fun for me to watch the coverage on ESPN.  Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables.  Tony

WSOP Main Event

The main event at the World Series of Poker is down to 97 players remaining.  I haven't been following the coverage as much as in previous years.  Something about it is just missing for me. I think it's the fact that I didn't go to Vegas myself this year.  Not playing in any WSOP events kind of lessons their importance to me.   Oh well there is always next year!  Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables.  Tony

Main Event Money Bubble

The players are in the money at the WSOP Main Event.  Top 660 players have lasted long enough to get 2 times their buy in of 10K.  It's so exciting news and I wish I was one of them.  Who will last long enough to win the big one this year?  Follow all the results at WSOP.com.  Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables.  Tony

The Big One at The WSOP

It's that time again this year.  The Main event of the World Series of Poker is upon us once again.  While I still get excited by this time of year something seems to be missing for me.  I think it's the fact that we didn't make our annual trip out to Las Vegas this year.  Even though we don't play in the main event just going out there to play in lesser events always got me excited for it.  Well next year we are going to Las Vegas for sure.  I still do enjoy following the results via the WSOP.com.   Everyone enjoy the coverage this year.  Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables.  Tony

WSOP One Drop Tournament

Did you all watch ESPN's coverage of the One Drop Tournament?  Very exciting tournament to watch, IMHO.  The hand where Brian Rast flops the nut straight and loses to quads on the river was a made for TV hand for sure.  No way he wasn't going broke there based on the stack sizes.  He thought he was trapping but was the one who got caught.  If you haven't watched this yet I highly recommend it.  Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables.  Tony
