Poker BLOG

I am trying to avoid making this BLOG into the "Trouble in Atlantic City" BLOG. That is the E-book I am currently writing, that should be available for purchase in a few months. Problem is without me playing much Online or live Poker my topics to write about are more limited. I have been crushing the Double or Nothing Sit-N-Gos at Cake again but don't want this to be a brag BLOG. I have been running really bad at Cash game No Limit on cake but don't want this to be a bad beat BLOG either. I guess I could write about the November Nine but it doesn't seam very exciting to watch this year. My BLOG is growing mature and I am struggling for things to write about. Don't you all worry this funk has happened to me before and I have always written my way out of it. Maybe I should write about politics or religion, NOT! Happy monday and thanks for reading. Tony

Yet Another Trouble in Atlantic City Sneak Peak

I am making progress on my book "Trouble in Atlantic City". I am up to 22K words. As you can read below it's still in ruff draft form. Enjoy and leave a comment. Thanks Tony

Welcome to Atlantic City, faded seaside resort city and east coast Vegas, want to be. Playground to every jet setter, high roller, high stakes Poker playing smuck, sleazebag and little old grey haired lady trying to get a piece of the gamblers dream to make that one big score. This is my territory; my name is Frank Vagola, Atlantic City P.I. I’m an ex-cop from the New York suburbs of Ridgefield Park New Jersey. After putting in my 20 years of service to qualify for a full pension I retired from the police force. Things were getting too corrupt for my liking anyway. Things were getting too corrupt for my liking anyway. Also New Jersey Policies were starting to get to me. Over time we public servants have lost respect from the public we are paid to serve. Being there have been many scandals involving crooked cops I see why this is. These days I spend my time in private practice as a private investigator, have an office above my garage in a small house I rent in Absecon New Jersey. It’s not glamorous but it pays the bills and keeps me out/in trouble on a daily basis. Mostly spend my times following cheating spouses around to motels alone the major highways of New Jersey. Speaking of which I have lived in my whole life and intend on dying here too.
If you tell people, from other parts of the country, that you are from New Jersey they make some bad joke by stating, “Oh yea, which exit”? This joke is referring to the fact that Route 95, called the New Jersey Turnpike, is the main road most people associate with our great state. The reason for this is that the Newark airport is located on the New Jersey Turnpike. Also that area is full of many chemical plants that emit bad smells and tons of pollution into the atmosphere. So when people are driving or getting driven out of the airport they pass through this area and it makes a bad first impression on them. We all know how hard it is to change a bad first impression of anything. This is why it’s so important for restaurants to look clean and well maintained on the outside. If it looks bad from the outside people won’t even give it a chance. So New Jersey is like a rundown restaurant that may never get a chance to show off how good their food is being the bad first impression ruins it. Anyway I have gone off on a tangent about my lovely state of New Jersey back to the story of how I almost got killed investigating another routine case of a cheating husband for his wife. So I thought it was going to be another easy routine case for me.

More Trouble in Atlantic City

Here is another sneak peak at the e-book I am currently working on. It's a first raw unedited version so the chapter may be different once I am done. I should be done and have it up for purchase within 6 months.(Amazon and Barnes & Noble.) Enjoy and leave a comment please, need some criticism. Thanks for reading. Tony

I need to go back in time to a few months ago when I met her and all the trouble started for me. Her name was Michelle, a relatively tall bleached blond young women of around 30 years old. I met her while doing my favorite pastime, playing Poker in Atlantic City at the low limit Holdem tables in my favorite Poker Room at the Atlantic Resort. I know it sounds like a corny name for a Casino by it is on the boardwalk next to the Atlantic Ocean so the name seems fitting. Meeting her in a $1-2 game of No Limit Texas Holdem should have tipped me off not to trust her. After all people always say that you can’t believe anything you hear around a Poker Table. I guess the games main idea of deceiving people about the strength of your hand sometimes rubs off on them into the real world. Back to Michelle, she was tall about 5 Feet 7 inches with a body that looked like she spent many hours a day in a gym. She had perfectly manicured nails from her toes to her finger tips. Red nail polish on both that matched her hot red lipstick. As soon as I sat down I noticed the Small spider Tattoo on her right ankle. Something about it just made the hair rise on the back of my neck. My instants were telling me to just move to another table and stay away from trouble. A seat had opened up next to her and the floor person called my name after I had waited an hour for it. The place was packed on this sunny perfect June day so why spend time on the beach when you can be inside playing Poker with a bunch of people you normally wouldn’t give the time of day too? Plus she gave me a smile while looking me up and down while I took the seat. Again I sensed trouble when I looked down and saw the wedding ring on her finger. I noticed she handled her chips like a seasoned player that had put 1000s of hours grinding at the tables. Grinding is a term for Poker players who put in a huge amount of time at the low limit tables trying to build up a Bankroll to play for serious money. So back to Michelle, she was wearing shorts and a tight tee shirt that both barely covered her slender toned body up. Which makes sense for a hot day in late June but not for a Poker room that has the air on so high that it’s as cold as a freezer. This was another clue that she was trouble and I just should have requested a seat change.

WSOP ESPN

Did you all watch the WSOP Main Event last night on ESPN? I thought the play was excellent and fun to watch. There were some sick re-raises going on among the final 20 players. I think many players have gotten better and the game is much tougher to beat. As for online play I am in a funk. Bead beat city but I don't want to bore you with the details. Bring on the November nine. Good luck at the tables. Tony

Online Poker in the USA

Let's all try to do something about fighting our Government from taking away our rights to play Online Poker. In the next few weeks I will find links to sign petitions to get Online Poker regulated. Please click on this link and sign the petition. Maybe our collective voices can do something about this. Here is the link:

Internet Connection

Some how my internet connection fixed itself. Time Warner isn't coming to my house until Wednesday so I am very lucky. Our phone service is still dead but we both have cell phones so we will live with it for a few days. I was itching to play some Online Poker this morning. I crushed the cash games at Cake's super soft tables. Donks calling my all in pre-flop shoves with pocket 4s and pocket 10s, so bad. In one case I had pocket Queens in the other pocket Kings. What did they think I am shoving 50BBs with A-K off? Even if so against my range they are way behind every time. Got to love bad players. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

Bad Internet Service

Haven't been able to post all week being my Internet connection keeps going down. Called Time Warner and they thought my cable modem was going bad. Replaced it and couldn't get on the net. Called them again and now they say the connection to my house is down. Of course they can't send anyone out for five days. Customer service just plain sucks these days. By chance my connection has come back but it comes and goes. Plus my Internet Phone service is just down period. I will post when I can. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

My BLOG

To BLOG or not that is the question. I have noticed since Black Friday that many Bloggers have posted less often than they used to. I remember a few years ago when most Bloggers would post every day or every other day. I too am guilty of letting this BLOG fall from relevancy. The problem is without access to the major Online Poker sites there is just less and less for me to write about. That and the fact that we are all getting older so have less live games to play in with friends and relatives. Now that my dog had passed I will try to play in more live games in Atlantic City, Foxwoods, and Pennsylvania. Guess I should focus on posting about the live games. Plus the E-book I am writing is coming along nicely. Have a very rough draft of around 18,000 words. Already know how it will end so just have to write in the middle part! Hopefully you my loyal readers will be kind enough to purchase it. There is a ton of Poker in it played at the fictional Atlantic Resort Poker Room in AC. That and plenty of detective work make it a compelling story to read. Plus if everything goes the way I plan it the story should tie in well to the surprising end. Guess I do have things to Post about after all in this BLOG. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

Never Fails

It never fails whenever I write about running good at Sit-N-Gos I get killed at them. Sunday I lost 3 straight Double or Nothings right after doing my Sit-N-Go post. It's all good I crushed the cash games all day. Actually I been winning at cash all week. Of no I've said it again, now I will run bad rest of week. Good luck at the Tables. Tony

Online Sit-N-Gos

Since Black Friday the Sit-N-Go action has dried up for us US players. I've managed to play Double or nothing ones on Cake Poker. The rake for the $10 ones is higher than Poker stars 7% instead of Stars 4% but with 33% Rake back it's almost the same. The level of play is so much lower on Cake! I am a really expert double or Nothing player but still with that rake it's amazing how badly I am crushing them. I am cashing in 80% of these for the last 6 months! My sample size is small being can only play a few of them a day. Will continue to monitor the situation but for now they are my cash cow. Yesterday I decided to try out the regular full table ones with top 3 getting paid. Players there are bad also! I cashed in my first 2 attempts. Will have to play some more of these today. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony
