WSOP

T-8 days until our Vegas trip! We both can’t wait to go. Haven’t had a real vacation since last June. The prices this year really have come down. We are staying an extra day at the Golden Nugget and paying around $400 less than the same time last year!(That is for the Airline tickets, Hotel stay, and Rent a car combined.) We love staying in the Nugget, even though the food there is terrible. They have the worst buffet, even worse than the Luxor’s! The beds are great and the pool is awesome so we put up with the bad food by just walking a few blocks to eat elsewhere. Have a whole list of great tournaments to play in this year. Three HORSE tournaments and possibly the 3K HORSE at the WSOP. Need a nice cash in one of the smaller ones in order to “let it ride” on the 3K one. So really we are treating the smaller ones as satellites into the WSOP one. Hoping this will be our year to break out with a large Vegas score. Biggest one up to now was my wife’s 17th place in the $1500 Stud 2 years ago.($4900+) Our goal is for one of us to win more this year. Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables. Tony

Beating the Donks

I don't know how someone can play poker for a living. This game can be so frustrating at times. Yesterday(Donkday) was a case in point! Nothing I did was right. Took 2 out beats on the river over and over, was sick. This hand from a double or nothing Sit-N-Go is a perfect example of bad play getting rewarded. We have 9 players left with the top 5 winning double their buy in. Blinds are at 50-100 with I think a 10 ante. I have played super tight, only one hand up to this point but I lost 1/4 of my stack on it. After blinds and antes I have 950 left. The button limps and from the big blind I shove with Q-9 suited. I am playing off my tight image, also I need the chips out there big time. The limper snap calls and I think I have been trapped by Aces or another monster! (BTW the limper started the hand with 2950.) What monster do you think he trapped me with? Hmm... let's think about this for a minute. No more suspense, K-5 sooted!! He trapped me good. WSOP Trip

In less than 2 weeks my wife and I are making our annual trip to Vegas! We will be playing in a bunch of HORSE tournaments while out there. Neil Home Game

Played a home game at my Cousin Neil’s house last night. Like I promised my cousin Tony he gets a shout out for me knocking him out. About time I held over you for one hand, that $10 Bounty is double as sweet! Now if I can knock you out like 100 more times we will be even, LOL. Felt I played well last night and getting pocket Kings three times always helps! Took third in the first Sit-N-Go for double my buy in. My bust out hand was a really bad cooler. Three handed I get J-Q sooted from the small blind. I bring it in for a 2.5X raise. The big stacked big blind calls my raise. The flop came gin for me, so I thought, J-A-J rainbow! I led out and he raises me all in. Of course I snap call only to be shown J-K. Three handed I just can’t get away from this hand. In the second Sit-N-Go I get sickly rivered three times to get knocked out early. I run so bad at Neil’s house but that’s poker. I will get them next time. Playing Well but Losing.

Last night was a perfect example of just running bad. I played great winning Poker. Got my money in good almost everytime. I lost with an overpair 3 times all in pre-flop last night. The nights that your Queens lose to Tens and your Kings lose to sevens are going to be losing ones. Was proud of the fact I played great and didn't tilt at all. Variance is part of Poker and the sooner you realize this the better player you will become. Didn't get angry even once last night. Tonight I am going to Donk around at my cousin Neil's house. FTOPS Main Event

Big Shout out to my cousin Ant for cashing in the FTOPS Main event and the mini FTOPS main event last night. He played great but couldn’t fade bad beats with pocket Jacks in both of them. The moral of this story is to not play pocket Jacks. Actually the moral is you have to be real lucky to get deep in a large field MTT. Ant your big score is coming soon, I can feel it. As for my big score, it looks bad. I got deep but just missed cashing in the mini FTOPS knockout tournament yesterday. Was very disappointed being I had a big stack half way through the field. Then I got moved to a table of uber-aggressive donks and couldn’t play a pot without risking my whole stack. Should have made a stand earlier but shoved from the small blind with an M of 5 with A-7 off. The big stacked button, who limped, snap called my shove with Q-J off. These kind of idiot plays happen when your bounty is “up for sale”. He turned a Queen and IGH without any money, once again. Oh well I will get my luck in Vegas during the WSOP. Donkday Warning

As usual I am warning you all to play extra careful today being it's Donkday! Today bad play get rewarded even more than normal, Online. Make sure you get it all in behind today, you will be better off. I played the mixed miniFtops event on Friday night on FullTilt. Had almost double the average stack, most of the way through. Things were going well when down to around 1000 players, with almost 400 making the money. I flopped a set of Tens, during the limit leg on a flop of J-10-9 with two spades. I bet the flop and got raised. Just knew I was beat here or that a draw would get there and suck out on me. This is such a good flop/bad flop for pocket Tens! We got one bet in on the turn and river and of course I got coolered once again. He had Q-K for a flopped straight. It's limit so I can't complain about him calling my raise cold on the button with Q-K off, 6-max game. Try to avoid the coolers and Donks today! Happy Donkday. Tony

The Secret to Beating Online Poker

I have figured out how to win playing Poker Online. You my loyal reader are about to receive the “Secret” to beating Online Poker. Are you ready, this is it: Whine as much as possible about running bad! After a few days of doing this your luck will even out and you will run good. I swear every time I complain, in this BLOG, about running bad the Poker gods have mercy on me and I run goot! Last two nights I have been crushing Sit-N-Gos and Super-Satellites Online. My bread and butter, Double or Nothing Sit-N-Gos on stars have been really good to me. Just went 8-2 in my last ten. If you Shark Scope me it has “Hot” as my status, I like it. Only been playing a little Ring game Hi/Lo Stud, just to clear my bonus on UltimateBet. It’s been going fine winning a few big bets a night. Of course now that I have written about running good will probably get crushed tonight, we will see. I am playing in a mini-FTOPS MTT tomorrow night on Full. The 9:05 Mixed Holdem Event, always seem to run good in this event. Wish me luck. Tony

Pushing into Aces

Feels like I am trying to set a record for getting knocked out of Sit-N-Gos by pushing into Aces. It happened to me around 20 times in less than a week. I could see if I played in 1000 Sit-N-Gos but I didn't even come close. As for flips just forget-about it! My Queens keep losing to A-K and my A-K can't crack twos. Oh well it's not all bad been only slowly losing away my bankroll. For all this running sick bad only losing a few buy ins a night. Once things even out I will start crushing them. Donk Day

Things started out great yesterday on Full Tilt for me. I on a $55 Satellite and min-cashed in another one. Also won a little money playing Hi/Lo Stud on Ultimate. Then I started playing Double or Nothing Sit-n-Gos and things went downhill really fast! I had a sick run of running big pairs into larger ones all in pre-flop. After that I would run Big Aces into smaller Aces that would out flop me. It was 2 hours of shear frustration! When the dust cleared I won only cashed in 4 out of 12 of them. Not a total diaster but really bad for me at the Double or Nothing ones. So the day ended up another wash for me, which I guess isn't all bad considering how dejected I felt after playing on Friday night. Haven't really had much to BLOG about here lately. I realized this always happens in the weeks leading up to the WSOP. May is like the calm before the storm in the Poker world. My wife and I plan on playing a bunch of HORSE tournaments during our week at the WSOP. I really want to play in the 3K HORSE at the WSOP. It all depends if I can cash in the Binions or Nugget's HORSE first. We will see. Remember to get it in behind today being it's Donkday. Good luck and beware of the Donks! Tony

Running Sick Bad

This game sucks when things aren't going your way. Last night I couldn't lose and tonight I couldn't win! Felt I played fine but just lost every race possible. Went 0-4 in Sit-N-Gos. Min-cashed in one MTT out of five and lost a little playing live. The damage could have been worse but I just feel dejected playing tonight. I am shutting it down before I really hurt my roll. I'm Back

Finally over the flu, went back to work today. Just won 6 straight Double or Nothing Sit-N-God on Poker Stars! I'm back and hot baby. I will play a lot this weekend, now that I am feeling better. Good Luck all. Tony

Sick Days

Been home sick for 3 days now. The flu just sucks big time! Haven't played much Poker lately. Also missed 2 days of work so far. On top of this my allergies have been miserable for the last 3 weeks. What a downer of a post this is turning out to be. Come back tomorrow for some Poker posting. Tony
